Who's the guy taking all these photos?
Hi, my name is Ryan English but don't let the last name trick you - my first language is actually an even split between spanglish and sarcasm. I've lived in Birmingham, AL nearly all of my life until recently when I began studying Software Engineering at Auburn University. The main thing that defines me as a person is my salvation through Jesus Christ. I enjoy being around people, working with people, and really just being creative whenever the opportunity presents itself. Apart from my studies, I love playing just about any instrument I can find and spending many hours outside.
What gives this guy the right to take pictures?
Well if we're being honest, I live in America - land of the free - and it has been declared my right to do a lot of things, including photography. Apart from this, I've always been interested in photography. Besides many years of experience in taking photos on my own, my mother's business, Laura English Art & Photography, has taught me a lot. This has given me knowledge in wedding photography (I was able to sit in on part of a course on this subject), nature photography, prints, and much much more. To me, anyone has the right to be a photographer because no two people have the exact same perspective, creativity, and opportunities all mixed together. Therefore, everyone has something very unique to bring to the table.
In short, Christ died for me even though I should be the one to pay the penalty for everything I've done against others and against God. Not only do I not have to pay the price, but I'm given gifts and blessings from God day in and day out. One of those blessings is the fact that I can go outside every single day of my life and be a witness to God's beautiful creations for us to enjoy. "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" - Psalm 24:1. Being I tiny little human being compared to all of this, I want the world to experience what I experience when I see these things. I don't take pictures for myself, I take them to serve everyone who encounters what I've been priviledged to do.
